A year and a half ago, I slept with a guy who purchased for me a butterfly vibrator - it attaches to my private parts and vibrates at the touch of a remote control. One night I went to his house and we used it. I left in a huff - he was a dick. And I left the remote there.
I want the remote back. It's been a year and a half, like I said. Can I contact him for this or should I just leave it where it is?

Yes .. There is not any single issue regarding that. Remote for the vibrators is replaceable and you can also buy it as a spare part.
